What this tool is

FreeSprinklerDesign is a free, browser-based educational tool that generates a homeowner-grade starting-point sprinkler layout from your inputs. The output is an estimate based on standard residential irrigation hydraulics and manufacturer head performance data — it is not a stamped engineering plan, a permit-ready drawing, or a substitute for advice from a licensed irrigator.

No warranty

The tool is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the design will produce uniform coverage, pass inspection in your jurisdiction, or work with the specific products you choose to buy.

Before you install

Sprinkler installations involve plumbing, electrical, and local code requirements that vary by jurisdiction. Before you dig:

  • Call 811 (Dig Safe) to mark underground utilities — free, required by law in every U.S. state.
  • Check with your local water utility about backflow-preventer requirements (usually a PVB or RPZ is mandatory).
  • Confirm whether your municipality requires a plumbing or irrigation permit for a new service tap.
  • For systems beyond a small residential yard, consult a licensed irrigator.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for water damage, property damage, code violations, injury, lost savings, or any other consequence — direct, incidental, or consequential — of acting on this tool's output. Your use of the tool is at your own risk.

Affiliate links

The parts list contains affiliate links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the tool free. We do not receive payment from any specific manufacturer for promoting their product.

Lead referrals (optional)

If you opt in to be connected with a local installer, we share your name, email, zip code, and design summary with a contractor we believe to be reputable and licensed. Our vetting is best-effort; we do not guarantee the contractor's work, pricing, or business practices. Any agreement to install the system is strictly between you and the contractor.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape the site at high volume, don't try to reverse-engineer the engine for a commercial competing product, and don't impersonate the site to mislead users about its output. Otherwise, use it however helps you.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be flagged on this page; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts of the operator's state of residence.
