Privacy Policy
Effective May 2026
FreeSprinklerDesign is a free, browser-based tool. We don't make you create an account and we don't run a backend that stores your designs. This page explains the data that does flow through the tool and what we do with it.
What stays on your device
- Your design — saved in your browser's local storage. Never sent to our servers. Clear your site data (or click "New Project") to delete it.
- Your water-supply inputs, yard polygon, head positions — same as above.
What gets sent to third parties
- Your address — sent to Google Maps so we can geocode it and load the satellite imagery you trace your yard on. Google's privacy policy applies to that lookup. We do not store the address ourselves.
- Anonymous interaction events — page views, demo loads, design generations, button clicks — sent to PostHog so we can see which parts of the tool people use. No personally identifying information is attached; PostHog assigns each browser a random anonymous ID.
- Affiliate clicks — when you click a parts-list link, you go to Amazon with our affiliate tag attached. Amazon's privacy policy applies once you're on their site.
Lead-capture form (only if you opt in)
If you check "connect me with a local installer" on the results page, we collect the name, email, and zip code you provide along with a summary of your design. We share this information only with the local irrigation contractor we believe is the best fit. We don't sell it to data brokers. If you want your submission removed, email us (see Contact).
Cookies and similar tech
We use browser local storage to save your design. PostHog uses a first-party cookie to deduplicate anonymous visitors. We don't run ad-network tracking pixels.
What we don't do
- No user accounts, passwords, or email signup gate.
- No selling your data to brokers.
- No ad-network tracking pixels.
- No "we may update this policy at any time without notice" — material changes will get a visible notice on this page.
Affiliate disclosure
Parts lists include affiliate links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the tool free.
Your choices
- Clear your stored design at any time via "New Project" in the header or your browser's site-data clear.
- Block analytics by using a browser content blocker — the tool still works without PostHog.
- Request deletion of any lead-capture submission by emailing us.
